On the 20th, Minister Oh Young-joo of the Ministry of SMEs and Startups emphasized at a plaque unveiling ceremony for super startups in Daejeon that, 'Through the super project, Korean deep tech startups can grow into unicorns leading the global market, and we will concentrate all policy efforts to support this.'

The Ministry of SMEs and Startups held a new super startup plaque unveiling ceremony and meeting on the 20th at a contact center in Daejeon, attended by representatives of super startup companies in artificial intelligence (AI), quantum technology, and employees from leading agencies such as the Korea Aerospace Research Institute.

This event was designed to reflect the voices of new super startup companies in five fields including aerospace and marine, AI, and quantum technology, which have expanded from this year among the top ten super sectors such as system semiconductors, life (bio), and healthcare.

The 'Super Startup 1000+ Project (DIPS 1000+)' is a project jointly run by the government and private sectors from last year until 2027 for five years to select over 1,000 excellent high-tech (deep tech) startup companies in ten new industry sectors to lead the future of the national economy and foster global unicorns through concentrated support.

Startup companies were recruited through general announcements, private validations, and ministry recommendations, with a high competition ratio of 13.1:1 (based on announcement method), resulting in the final selection of 217 companies.

Among them, 20 companies were selected in system semiconductors, 37 in bio-healthcare, 20 in mobility, 30 in eco-friendly energy, 32 in robotics, 35 in AI-big data, 21 in cybersecurity-networks, 12 in aerospace-marine, 5 in next-generation nuclear power plants, and 5 in quantum technology as super startups.

The Ministry of SMEs and Startups also selected 15 startup companies separately as follow-up support companies based on a separate evaluation of global technological achievements, sales, employment, and investment performance among startups supported by the innovation field startup package project from 2020 to three years. This includes four companies that have grown through support projects and been listed on the KOSDAQ.

Minister Oh Young-joo of the Ministry of SMEs and Startups emphasized, 'We will concentrate all policy efforts to support Korean deep tech startups in becoming unicorns leading the global market through the super project.'"
